Julia Barkan
Julia brings to Incandescent her interest in overcoming social and organizational challenges through collaboration and interdisciplinary perspectives.
Julia graduated from Hamilton College with a Government concentration and Psychology minor. Her education culminated in a senior thesis filling a gap in research on the impact of female combatants on rebel group success using case studies from Ethiopia. While at Hamilton, Julia directed the student volunteering organization and managed the audio-visual services team on campus. During her summers, she interned for local and national government agencies, which gave her a deep understanding of decision-making at the highest level.
In her free time, Julia loves watching documentaries and reading non-fiction. When you don’t find her curled up on the couch, she is spending time with friends, going to stand-up comedy shows and thrift stores around the city.
