Jocelyn Ling Malan
Jocelyn’s interests in investing, design, and healthcare contribute to how Incandescent approaches venture development and work with early-stage companies.
She was most recently an investment consultant at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private investment arm of the World Bank Group on the healthcare and education team. She conducted the market sizing, deal sourcing and sector mapping of potential investments in sub-Saharan Africa based in Nairobi, Kenya. Prior to IFC, she was with Acumen, a social venture organization as a health portfolio associate where she conducted diligence on health investments in East Africa and also assisted in structuring Acumen’s health investment product in faith-based organizations. Previously, she was an institutional fixed income emerging markets analyst with the Royal Bank of Canada.
In addition to her finance background, Jocelyn co-founded a NY-based startup, The Design Gym, an education company which empowers people and companies to innovate through access to the power of design thinking. Jocelyn has been a guest lecturer at MIT Sana and Stanford d.school, speaking about healthcare technology financing and design thinking, respectively. She has a BComm from the University of British Columbia, Canada, where she was an International Leader of Tomorrow Scholar.
On the occasions that Incandescent is not occupying her attention, she can be found with a good book, a great cup of coffee, or trying to be a better rock climber and boulderer.
