Abe Tarapani

Abe Tarapani brings to Incandescent a strong background at the intersection of technology and sustainable development. He is an entrepreneur and an operator at heart, having helped build businesses in sectors ranging from renewable energy to big data.

Abe began his career with the consulting firm Katzenbach Partners, where he was named one of the Top 30 Consultants Under 30 by Consulting Magazine and spent time as the firm’s interim Chief Financial Officer. From there, he helped build a renewable energy business named Astonfield focused on developing utility solar power projects across India, Africa and the Middle East. At Astonfield, Abe drove new market expansion and technology partnerships, and worked to advocate for public policy in the region that would catalyze private sector investment in renewables.

Most recently, Abe served as Director of Business Development for Premise Data, a tech startup focused on using smartphone-based data collection and advanced analytical methods to monitor real-time economic and societal trends in the emerging markets.

Abe earned a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Yale University and was named a Presidential Scholar by the Clinton White House. He is a First Mover Fellow with the Aspen Institute’s Business and Society Program and serves on the Advisory Board of the program. To further his passion for conservation, Abe serves as a Counselor to Save the Redwoods League, a 100-year old organization dedicated to protecting and restoring California’s unique redwood forest ecosystems.

Abe lives in San Francisco with his wife and daughter. In their spare time they enjoy cooking at home, hiking, and visiting local wineries.
